There are many people visiting local shrine on New Year’s Days. In Hokkaido Jingu, there are many temporary booths alongside the roads to Main building. They deals foods and drinks usually called ‘Amazake’ which is made with sake lees. This is very nice and hot. You really get warm yourself. Every Shrines are crowded like its annual festival. More than 800,000 people visit here from 1 to 3 January.

After visiting shrine, it is nice for you to visit to Maruyama Zoo which is opened all the year and Free Admission until 3rd Jan. Or you may go to Maruyama Area where many nice cafe and restaurants there. It is a good idea to take a lunch. Maruyama Class is also opened and you enjoy shopping for Lucky bags.
